I want to welcome everyone to the 2009-2010 season. This season is filled with great opportunities for high level fencing. Memphis has the honor of hosting the 2010 Junior Olympics in February and the Summer National Championships will be held in nearby Atlanta.
I encourage everyone in the Division to renew their membership as soon as possible. The USFA does not yet have online membership registration but you can download a membership application at the USFA website.
The first tournament of the new season comes early. Vanderbilt will be hosting its Fall Foil Challenge on September 12, 2009. This will be a novice and open foil tournament so dust off those foils that have been sitting around all summer, give your new students a crash course in electric foil fencing and come join the fun.
I am working to put together the division tournament schedule for the season so let us know when you want to host a tournament. This season the Division will hold at least three tournaments. We will have a 2009 Division Team Championship, Junior Olympic qualifiers, and of course, the 2010 Division Championships/Sectional and National qualifiers.
In order to facilitate communication throughout the Division, I would like to put an e-mail and contact list together with the addresses of a representative from each club. If you are a coach or manage a fencing club in Tennessee please send my an e-mail so I can get you on the list.
The Division had two National Champions- Bryan Cheney in Div 1 MS and Kristin Vines in Vet 40 WF. The complete results for TN are:
